Theresa May, stop the fake victimhood.

Humiliated and confronted to reality, Theresa May now tries to shift the blame to the European Union. She has long lost the argument though.

In your speech, earlier today, you said: “Throughout this process, I have treated the EU with nothing but respect. The UK expects the same.”

You had that respect. You lost it through a process including the former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson🗳️ telling the EU27 leaders to whistle for it or comparing officials to concentration camp commandants, others attempting to roll back on agreements already made, and then acting aggressively as EU27 tried to assist you.

Your own Brexit minister threatens to withhold the agreed financial settlement almost fortnightly. You just said you “would never accept” the thing you agreed to in writing in December.

You took 15 months to make a proposal, and then, when it came, it was composed of elements that had already been ruled out as unimplementable or unacceptable by the EU27.

They explained why it could not work, and you pressed on with it anyway, and are now claiming they have not explained why.

The EU27 leaders went out of their way to accommodate the ridiculous DUP clown show, and to package the financial settlement as you wanted it, to get you the ‘sufficient progress’ you desperately needed politically.

Yes, it was a stupid Instagram post by Donald Tusk (Is that what it was really about? Really?), but I think you need to see it in the context of over 2 years of you treating the leaders and populations of 27 of the richest countries in the world like absolute mugs, along with your own population.

This mock indignation and fake victimhood fools no one anymore, at home or abroad. We are where we are because of what you have freely chosen to do.🔷

ps. If Theresa May thinks that any deviation between the Northern Ireland rules and the UK rules means that the UK is fundamentally split, she is going to get an awful shock when she finds out that they already have different laws on gay marriage, abortion, and election finance. And that Scotland has an entirely different legal system, a Government, and a Parliament!
