Singer, writer and activist Tom Moriarty on why he believes British people can unite for the country and against those who try to trash it for their personal gain.

I don’t believe Brexit is the will of the people. I don’t blame many Leave voters for their vote. Many thought they were helping the NHS. They were lied to. I believe that most people are united in not wanting to hurt the country.

I believe the referendum was all about a small group of people engineering an ideological takeover to take control of the country and concentrate wealth and power in the hands of unelected boardrooms because they believe that it’s better that way.

They care little for democracy.

This group used their influence and wealth to essentially con many voters into unwittingly backing their coup. They used fraudulent, covert and illegal methods which the voting public was not aware of. We have seen masses of evidence of that.

Their strategy was to nurture hate and anger in society, act as a societal shit stirrer, causing a rift in society and an escalation of conflict. It worked, so much so that it triggered one person to kill an MP. RIP Jo.

There will have been countless other acts of abuse.

The crux of their plan has been to make us all think lesser of our society, to make us all feel we are less than we are. And specifically that those voting for the other option to yours in the referendum are lesser people.

But I do not believe that. I will not be convinced by their narrative of hate that we are a society of hate. I know that we are not. Yes, there is a small but very loud minority who are truly filled with hate and rage, the racists and the fascists, and they can go to hell.

However, putting them aside, whether there are fascist thugs on the streets or fascist thugs in the House of Commons, mostly people aren’t that.

As I have said many times, I firmly believe the country is now for Remaining because it just makes sense. Take out all the lies and propaganda and add in reality and Remaining is just the better option. We drop Brexit and get on with life. I’m sure we all want to.

So, that is my belief. I believe we do have the capacity to get past this.

I believe we can unite for the country and against those that are trying to trash it for their own gain.

I believe we are better than those in power would like us to believe.

And so, for those reasons, I will be releasing a song. I hope it will lift you up, make your day a little easier. It is a rock song. It is what I believe and it is called:

“Better Than This”

Stop Brexit and unite for the future of the country.🔷
