More than ever, we need to connect with people on an emotional level by any means we can to tell our personal stories.

The lockdown has been hard on everyone the last few months, the sense of uncertainty and feeling of helplessness has hit us all at times. Community support has become the forefront of the pandemic, with neighbours working together to support the vulnerable and those who have fallen ill, with shopping being dropped off and errands run for them.

We have come together as that community once a week to cheer on NHS and key workers who have kept the country running during these unprecedented times. Which leads nicely into the main point of this open letter, the EU27 citizens and Brits in the EU.

EU27 citizens have worked and lived in the UK for decades. They have been our teachers, doctors, nurses, shop workers, support staff, delivery drivers, postal workers, I could go on and on. This crisis has put a spotlight on the draconian immigration policy proposed by this Conservative government and the impact it will have on society. Most of those workers listed above would not meet the proposed income threshold, and neither would most of the spouses and partners of Brits living in the EU, should they have to move back to the UK.

It is yet another hurdle in a long line to be put in front of those for whom Brexit has hit the hardest. Final Say For All have been filming and publishing the stories of these people telling their personal stories for three years now, but we can no longer use our usual format of meeting in pubs so like the rest of the world we have adapted.

We held our first digital Beehive on Sunday 24 May. We were honoured to have Terry Reintke as our first guest speaker with a surprise visit by triumphant citizens’ rights campaigner, Emma De Souza. We had guests from all over the UK and the EU, telling us how Brexit will affect them.

These events are emotional, they will make you angry, but they are cathartic, and truly little of that has been lost by moving to an online platform. More than ever, we need to connect with people on an emotional level by any means we can. We plan to continue to host these events while the lockdown and travel restrictions are in place so if geography is the reason you have never joined us before, that barrier has now gone.

We would love to hear your personal story, or you can just listen if you like. On our next Beehive, we plan to host an after-party for those who do not want to speak and just want to join us for a chat and company.

The world has changed beyond recognition in the last four years as we approach the anniversary of the dreaded day in June, but so have people. We have seen the rise of populism and the far-right across the globe. We have heard leaders speak in a way that has never been done in my lifetime.

My mum always told me “If you stand for nothing, you fall for everything.” Although we cannot stand shoulder to shoulder now, we can still be that shoulder to lean on.

Please follow @FinalSayForAll on Twitter. You can find us on Eventbrite as well. If you would like to speak or attend an upcoming online event check out the above, or email us at

We hope to see you soon.🔷
