○ Offshoring of asylum seekers – A Home Office distraction
While we froth over stories of barriers in the Channel and wave machines to push migrant boats back into French waters, we must not take our eyes off the Home Office’s current inhumane treatment of asylum seekers and violations of the law, Dan Sohege writes.
“The real question now is why would the Home Office even suggest policies which it knows it cannot implement without massive legal challenges and disrupting ties with other countries, aside from the costs and ‘practicalities’ involved? It is not a hard question to answer.
“It allows them to seem ‘reasonable’ when they put forward serious plans of housing asylum seekers in old prisons and military camps. They know that doing this is still inhumane and risks violations of the law, but they can say, “look how much worse it could be”.”

○ UK financial services will have ‘less fluid’ trade with the EU
During a confirmation hearing on her appointment as EU financial services commissioner, Mairead McGuinness told MEPs that “under all circumstances, deal or no deal, trading in financial services will be different and less fluid as of the first of January next year.”
“We need to avoid being overly dependent on a third country for key financial services,” she added.

○ Donald Trump tests positive to coronavirus
The president of the United States and his wife have both tested positive to coronavirus and have started to self-isolate. Trump announced the news during the night on Twitter after one of his closest aids contracted the virus.

○ Melania Trump’s publicity stunt
Remember Melania Trump’s “I really don’t care. Do U?” jacket when she visited a migrant child detention centre in Texas, in 2018? It was nothing but a publicity stunt.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania’s former aid and BFF secretly recorded their phone conversations. Fascinating!

○ Close aid to Trump COVID-19 positive
Hope Hicks, a top aide to Donald Trump has tested positive for coronavirus.
“Few in the WhiteHouse are closer to President Trump than Hope Hicks, a top aide who has tested positive for coronavirus. She regularly travels with Trump, like she did to Cleveland this week and again yesterday,” according to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.
Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News, Donald Trump confirmed that his closest aid tested positive to coronavirus, and that he “just went out for a test... because we (he) spend a lot of time with Hope.”

○ A very forceful speech
The Lincoln Project (a group of Republicans who support Joe Biden) have just tweeted this obviously strongly-edited video from the 2020 Republican National Convention that shows Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former TV personality and currently a Senior advisor of Donald Trump’s campaign, screaming.
Her speech was described afterwards by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer as a “very forceful speech.”

○ Xenophobic trolls lack education
When an uneducated xenophonic troll attacks Dr Alexandra Bulat, who has just recently become a British citizen, and gets a classy response in return.
It really is all about education, isn’t it?
