Who did U.S. voters think performed the best in the 2020 vice-presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence?

First published in October 2020.

A CNN/SSRS flash poll after the vice-presidential debate concluded last night had a majority of U.S. voters (59%) saying Joe Bidenโ€™s running mate Kamala Harris โ€œdid the best jobโ€ over the 90 minutes of a debate tht was more courteous than last weekโ€™s horror show.

A total of 38% thought Vice President Mike Pence came out on top, while 3% thought the performances were equal. Naturally, each campaign claimed that their VP pick had the better night.

Nevertheless, the debate is not expected to have swayed many voters to change their minds. As Sky News described it, the debate was โ€œpolite and well-mannered, but evasive and forgettableโ€, while the BBC went so far as to say the debate was โ€œoutshone by a flyโ€.๐Ÿ”ท
