3,748 people have died of COVID-19 in the last 28 days. Is this the new ‘normal’ we are expected to accept? What if 15 Airbus A330 had crashed within a month in the UK? How would people react? How would the government react?
First published in October 2021.
As we enter the colder period of the year, there should be a real concern that some people feel they are no longer at risk and appear to have stopped taking steps to protect themselves and others from COVID-19. No social distancing. No proper ventilation. No masks in buses. No masks in the tube. No masks in trains. No masks in the streets. No masks at school gates... Yet, COVID-19 still exists.
COVID-19 does not care one bit about your politics or your feelings against masks, social distancing or vaccination.
But let’s put the latest data into perspective...
In the last 28 days, 3,748 people have died of COVID-19. That is the equivalent of 15 Airbus A330 crashing with 250 passengers on board.
3,748 people have died of COVID-19 in 28 days, the equivalent of 15 A330 with 250 passengers each on board.
What would happen if 15 Airbus A330 had crashed last month in the UK simply because of the prime minister and his government’s libertarian policies?
There would rightly be a public outcry. Demands for an inquiry.
Sure, it might still lead to nowhere as we would probably hear the PM say something like, “You very well know that planes are not risk-free. People should, therefore, use their common sense when travelling. It is their personal responsibility to decide whether they should travel by plane or not.”
Since 2019, we have watched a lying PM and his team of absolute no-hopers scuttling Ship UK in every way you wouldn’t have ever imagined. And the moment they get caught because of yet another crisis they created in the first place, they carry botched attempts to sort things out and actually make them worse.
They are a bunch of inefficient, careless, and self-interested people, who escape accountability at every corner, and who should never have been anywhere close to power. They know nothing. They understand nothing. And they don’t care. The only thing they care about is their and their wealthy friends’ purses, as we have seen again and again and remaining in power for as long as possible.
The truth is, 3,748 people have died of COVID-19 in 28 days, and yet the media don’t talk about it any longer – too busy with the fuel and food shortages consequence of Brexit.
3,748 people have died of COVID-19 in 28 days, and yet the government doesn’t talk or do anything about it either – they even hold cabinet meetings without masks or social distancing because they want you to believe we are back to ‘normal’.
It is almost as if those deaths had been normalised.
Don’t let them tell you it is normal.
Don’t let them pretend it is normal.
3,748 people have died of COVID-19 in 28 days and this is not ‘normal’.
Erratum: An error occurred in a previous version of this article that stated that 3,748 people have died of COVID-19 in the last 7 days instead of the last 28 days. This has now been corrected.
